Born and raised in North Vancouver, Katie has always loved living right by the ocean and mountains all in one! She loved it so much she even furthered her education at Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts on Granville Island, one of her favourite childhood spots!
While at Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts, Katie gained knowledge in both culinary and pastry getting a double diploma from the school! Katie loves culinary and she believes that's why she can create dynamic and creative flavours, But her love of pastry was undeniable and went on to work for bakeries on the north shore! While working she found her true passion in the creative side of pastry!
Katie went on to travel Europe, Australia, and through out the United States to eat at some of the best bakeries in the world and that's what really inspired her to launch Katie Marie Cakes! Now with the love of travelling she combines that with seeking knowledge going to Maggie Austins studio in Washington DC one of her idols to learn the art of sugar work.
With everything she has learned since she started in the industry at 19 and continuing to learn in all mediums, Her favourite being sugar flowers! She brings that making all her creations 100% unique and custom to you! And prides herself on her cakes tasting just as good as they look! One of her favourite parts of cake deign is merging your ideas with her creativity and bringing it to live in cake design.
